POSITION #1: ASPHALT FOREMAN

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, functions as a working supervisor/crew leader, supervising asphalt laborers and equipment operators performing work activities relating to the spreading, finishing and compacting of asphalt for the resurfacing and repair parking lots, streets, sidewalks, pathways etc

DUTIES

  • Supervise an assigned work crew performing asphalt laborer duties including raking, smoothing and tamping relating to paving, re-surfacing and repairing using hot asphalt materials – -Supervise grinding and other crews operating asphalt equipment, including grinders, pavers and rollers
  • Receive and prioritize daily work assignments and make crew work assignments
  • Observe work in progress and provide guidance and direction on work procedures and techniques to asphalt laborers
  • Ensure the timely delivery of hot asphalt from contracted plant to work sites, on-site truck coordination
  • Monitor supply of asphalt and additional supplies needed to complete the job
  • Complete work activity sheets to report jobs completed, providing information on material used, location of work site, heavy equipment used and crew work assignments
  • Inform Site Supervisor of performance or operational problems at work sites
  • Ensure safe work procedures and safe work practices are followed at work sites, including but not limited to daily tailgate meetings
  • Ensure barricades and other safety equipment are set up and in place while work is in progress
  • Prepares accident and injury reports, where necessary
  • Must have valid G licenseDESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

POSITION #2: SITE SUPERVISOR

  • Assist the project manager in planning and creating schedule for the project
  • Support the project manager in hiring subcontractors and choosing suppliers for the project
  • Supervise construction projects to make sure they meet technical specifications
  • Ensure that construction projects are completed within planned cost and time
  • Keep accurate records of material and labor costs incurred in the construction process
  • Monitor the progress of the construction work and performance of subcontractors at the site
  • Hold meetings with site workers and subcontractors
  • Convey information about the progress of the project
  • Assist foreman and subcontractors in interpreting technical designs
  • Educate site workers on safety procedures to be adopted at the site and make sure that they adhere strictly to safety standards
  • Ensure that the construction site is safe and free from any hazards
  • Report accidents that occur at the construction site to the Safety Officer
  • Administer or make sure that first aid is administered to any injured construction worker
  • Ensure the smooth day to day operation of work activities at the construction site
  • Maintain good relationship with site workers, contractors, and suppliers
  • Ensure that any change in project plan is executed by contractors
  • Motivate all the participants in the project
  • Identify any potential problem at the site and work to prevent it.

POSITION #3: SHOP FOREMAN

  • Ensure that all maintenance and repair activities meet acceptable quality standards and are properly documented including work performed by outside service providers.
  • Provide assistance in the investigation of vehicle equipment failures.
  • Coordinate fleet licensing and emission testing on all vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system of fleet maintenance and daily inspection sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal procedures including, but not limited to, health and safety procedures, purchasing guidelines, and human resource policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Previous experience in the same role is desired.

POSITION #4: HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

  • Maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems on a variety of equipment and tools.Ability to diagnose complex mechanical problems and successfully repair the equipment

  • Responsible for service documentation including maintaining record of completed repairs (annual certifications, etc.), proper completion of purchase orders for parts orders, organized equipment files, and other documentation as required.
  • Travel to sites to handle emergency service calls
  • Road tests vehicles; drives trucks or equipment as required; inspects vehicles in the shop and field.
  • Prepare cost estimates, orders parts and materials when applicable
  • Maintain shop inventory and assist with maintaining an organized shop
  • Other duties as assigned

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of service/repair experience with a variety of construction equipment
  • Ability to work evening shifts during construction season, shift start of 2PM, daytime work in the Winter months.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the diagnosis, troubleshooting, overall maintenance of vehicles & equipment
  • Operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand, power and shop tools and equipment common to the field.
  • Knowledge of lubrication systems, including oils and greases used in servicing and maintaining vehicles and equipment.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative without close supervision.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Follow safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to work.
  • Valid Driver’s License
